Nine, nein, oh nein

My mom via Skype today:
How is everything going? The *funny* around here yesterday was that it was *no, no, no * day in Germany - you know - 9- 9- 09!!

  1. I guess that's only funny for English speakers living in Germany, but it did it for me. :)

  2. Speaking of "nein, nein, nein" (Hitler's outburst in the latest Tarantino flick), I was in Berlin a couple weeks ago and went to see "Inglorious Basterds" at the amazing Kino International, built back in 1963, on Karl Marx Allee. The East German Politburo used to watch movies there. It's really something to see. Anyway, I believe I was the only American at the movie and it was interesting because the Germans and I laughed at different parts of the movie. The biggest laugh from the Germans came when Brat Pitt and his fellow soldiers pretended to speak Italian. All the Germans really laughed at that. The Nazi stuff, which I found really funny, didn't amuse them as much. Here are two photos of Kino International:

Damn good thing the Allies won that war.
